Social Media/Website Associate:

Position summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Social Media/Website Associate will coordinate the Yeshivah’s social media and website presence. The Associate will perform a vital role in helping to launch the Yeshivah’s new website for August 2018, including website, messaging platform and app. Post website launch, the Associate will be responsible for maintaining the website, messaging platform and app. In addition, the Associate will work with the Director of Marketing and Communications and Director of Development on alumni social media to increase alumni networking and engagement as part of an overall marketing strategy.     


Social Media

  • Help develop social media guidelines, strategy and plan based on Yeshivah mission and social media best practices.
  • Set up systems to analyze metrics and create strategies to increase engagement. Review metrics and engagement strategies with Director of Marketing and Communications regularly.
  • Assess social media practices for areas for improvement.
  • Set up best practices for social media posting across multiple channels simultaneously.
  • Create proactive and optimal schedule of social media posts. Review schedule with Director of Marketing and Communications regularly.
  • Create, design and post engaging social media messages, with photos, captions and/or text as needed.    
  • Develop and manage creative social media campaigns to increase awareness for and engagement in select events and programs.
  • Coordinate with Director of Marketing and Communications and Director of Development to help formulate strategy and plan for alumni social media. Strategically maintain YOF Linkedin account. Assess alumni class Facebook presence for areas for improvement. Report on alumni social media to Director of Marketing and Communications and Director of Development regularly. 
  • Proactively determine photography opportunities. Create daily plan for photography and review with Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Take mission-oriented and strategic photographs to assist the Yeshivah with visual storytelling through social media, during the school day as well as at evening and Sunday programs as needed.  
  • Review and select photos for publication in social media, based on provided guidelines.


  • Provide administrative technical support to help ensure successful August 2018 launch of website, messaging and mobile app components of Yeshivah’s new communications platform designed by School Messenger.
  • Learn School Messenger platform to be able to work within the template, through School Messenger’s training sessions and self-study guide. Customize components in close work with Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Update and maintain website, messaging platform and mobile app on continual basis.
  • Maintain responsibility for detailed photo/video descriptions on website to comply with legal requirement for ADA accessibility.  


  • Review and select photos for inclusion in targeted emails and school-wide publications such as Flatbush Flash weekly digital newsletter and bi-annual digital and printed Bulletin magazine, based on provided guidelines.
  • In coordination with Communications Associate, vet photos and align calendars of email and social media campaigns.
  • Assist Director of Marketing and Communications and Communications Associate on special projects as needed.
  • Assist with Siddur/Chumash party photo printing and other photo printing needs as required.


  • 1 - 2 years of related work experience or study. Liberal arts background with technical savvy welcome.
  • Fluency in English. Basic proficiency in Hebrew (basic reading and writing).
  • Understanding and awareness of Jewish calendar in terms of allowable times to post.
  • Expertise in social media platforms, techniques, trends and best practices.
  • Experience working within the back-end of a website environment or similar (i.e. an email newsletter program such as Constant Contact).
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be a self starter and learn a new technical program quickly.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team member and as an independent contributor.
